Thanks to Gyianas for the overlay design, title graphic, and thumbnail:

I've wanted to make this video for a while now, and I feel like now is a better time than ever since the English version of the game has been brought down so much recently. This video probably required the most editing I've ever done. Through countless Sony Vegas crashes, I finally present the WR History of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door any%.

In this video, I explain the entire history of world record speedruns for the any% category of Super Mario Sunshine - from its release in 2002 to the current day (September 2017). This game has a rich history of trick discoveries, rivalries, movement optimizations, and dominant players that seemed unbeatable in their time. Regardless of one's familiarity with the game, I feel that everyone can get something out of this. The current leaderboard for SMS can be seen here: This guide from 1UpsForLife helped tremendously, and I can't thank him enough for archiving most of SMS speedrun history, which made my job a lot easier: I was mainly inspired by SummoningSalt's "World Record Progression" series, and to some extent, RWhiteGoose's "Speedlore" series. I would highly recommend checking out both of their channels if you haven't already: EDIT: The first record since this video was made has been set on June 21st, 2019. Congrats to Weegee on 1:14:37! The idea where I thought I would compare the first levels of every big Sonic game but things get out of hand. After all, it's not like the other levels are going to be better. DISCLAIMER: Not every Sonic game ever is on here. Mad respect to Schoolhouse.
